This is a trackback to Jinyu's blog post. Basically, all people need to calm down, sit back, and think what they are doing. A lot of manipulation is going on, in Tibet, in the West and in China. No exceptions. This should be a lesson for everybody to be careful with what the media is feeding us and be critical with any piece of information we see, hear or read instead of just accepting it as the only truth.
Remember when "The West" used to stand for freedom, civil rights and democracy? Well, these days are long gone. I think, Orwell's 1984 must be banned from our schools by now and we are forced to live in constant fear being attacked by invisible enemy forces. The latest step in making "The West" suck a bit more comes from the Metropolitan Police in London (Big hooray to the cops of London). They declared a war on photographers, business men and neighbours.
Remember, if you see a nicely tanned guy with two mobile phones in your lovely business district, it's not a business man, it's a terrorist. If those pesky dark skinned foreigners start taking photos of your beloved Buckingham Palace, they are certainly not tourists, they must be terrorists!
Call the police at once, or better yet, don't wait for the police, just lynch them yourself. Big Brother will be proud of you!
War is Peace
Freedom is Slavery
Ignorance is Strength
I have somewhat given up fighting msn messenger, since everybody's life seems to depend on it. But if you need any more reasons why msn messenger sucks, this is it:
Live messenger is censoring more or less silently any messages containing any of the following strings:
- .info
- profile.php?
- download.php?
- gallery.php
- pics.php
- ListAllTopics.php
- .scr
- .pif
Users of older messengers get no notification at all about their messages getting dropped which can lead to amusing conversations. Microsoft's latest entry in their censorship list is ".info" preventing links to any of dot info websites being sent. The censorship is not only affecting links, since sentences with.information, .screensaver or java snipplets like java.awt.ScrollPane will get blocked too, so mind your dots. For more .information visit this thread at Worse than failure.
If you are looking for alternatives to msn messenger, i have been recommending google talk to anyone who cared. It works on Windows and any platform with a jabber client [pidgin, adium] including mobile phones [nimbuzz, gotalkmobile, fring, talkonaut] and web browsers.
Update: Internet wide outrage [digg, slashdot]. Let's see if Microsoft will get their shit together and fix their software instead of blocking random words. :-)
